Sensoy was born in the past century in Istanbul, the year of the first man on the Moon. He became interested in photography at the age of thirteen before digital cameras appeared. He enjoyed working in dark rooms before studying an Associate Science (AS) degree in social anthropology at Istanbul University, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) degree in cinema and television at the Fine Art Academy of Marmara University in Istanbul. ​ He worked for ten years as an editor, photographer and director in the advertising industry in Istanbul before moving to Amsterdam in the year 2000. ​ He continued his career in the Netherlands as a director, CGI artist and photographer. He also ran many visual arts workshops for youngsters in Amsterdam and made hundreds of TV programmes about them for Dutch television.
